Punta Gorda Housing Authority Honored at 2024 FAHRO Conference
PUNTA GORDA HOUSING AUTHORITY HONORED AT THE 2024 FAHRO CONFERENCE
The Punta Gorda Housing Authority (PGHA) was honored at the annual 2024 Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO) conference, receiving two awards and being recognized for excellence.
On the evening of August 22nd, the Punta Gorda Housing Authority received two awards at the annual FAHRO banquet and award ceremony. Punta Gorda Housing Authority was honored to be recognized as producing the top newsletter and best rated website of all other small agency housing authorities in the state of Florida. The FAHRO board, made up of Directors and executives of housing authorities across the state, made their choice known by voting Punta Gorda Housing Authority's website and newsletter as the best in Florida.
PGHA's newsletter was recognized as possessing exceptional design, function and appeal, as well as providing valuable information to its residents and community partners. PGHA's website was noted as not only being visually appealing, inviting, and easy to navigate, but also possessing a wealth of knowledge for not only its residents, but residents across the city and county.
The city of Punta Gorda first declared its need for a housing authority in 1965. Ever since it housed its first resident in 1970, the Punta Gorda Housing Authority has been successfully achieving its mission to provide safe housing through its successful Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. While Punta Gorda Housing Authority is considered a small agency, or having less than 550 units, it has shown to have made a large impact in the City of Punta Gorda, as well as the communities of Charlotte County and the City of North Port.
