FEMA Disaster Assistance

Charlotte County residents who were impacted by Hurricane Milton can now apply for federal assistance, as FEMA has officially declared the county a disaster area. 

This declaration unlocks individual and public assistance, as well as hazard mitigation, to help in recovery.

Residents can submit their applications online at www.disasterassistance.gov,  through the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 800.621.3362.

 

Transitional Sheltering Assistance

If approved for the disaster, FEMA may provide temporary sheltering using participating hotels for eligible disaster survivors. 

Who may be eligible? 

·        A disaster survivor who is displaced and taking refuge in emergency shelter locations. 

·        A survivor whose home is unlivable or inaccessible due to the disaster. 

·        Apply online at www.disasterassistance.gov

 

Florida Rural and Legal Services is available to assist with FEMA applications at the Family Services Center located at 21500 Gibralter Drive, Port Charlotte, FL, 33952. 8:30am-5:00pm.
